“What I was doing was wrong.
But I really didn’t care who I was or what God thought of me.”
Mike had been engaged in sexual promiscuity most of his adult life. Now as a middle-aged man, the darkness in his heart was consuming him.
Mike was trapped in a vicious cycle. Like many people, he felt that God didn’t love him, so he ran from Him and did destructive things. The more he sinned, the more he felt distant from God.
This man was what Jesus called a lost sheep.
But praise God! Mike’s story did not end in utter despair. I was able to share with him that God forgives… that He has a dynamic plan for his life… that Jesus is real!
“And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’” Luke 15:6
When Mike heard this simple message of hope, his life took a dramatic turn. He shares, “I was shaking and at that moment I knew I wanted God in my life.” Everywhere I go, I encounter people suffering like Mike. I see it in their hurting faces. I hear it when they tell me their heartbreaking stories. I even feel their pain when they give me a hug and hold on to me weeping. Mike wrote that his life was changed after only a few words.
Think about that! Only a few words rescued a life.
Now we have an opportunity to share those words of life to more people than ever before. Millions more! How? Through our own radio program! We want to produce a radio show where I would speak words of encouragement…. share the Good News…. interview guests who have personal testimonies of grace and hope.
Radio allows us to expand exponentially. As I frequently say, it “multiplies the message.” As you know I travel extensively. But I’m only one guy, and I’m very limited in how many people I can speak to at live events. Radio reaches out into the world and touches people right where they live. A mother listens while doing the dishes and hears a word of hope for her sick or troubled child. A man tunes in while driving home after being laid off. A teenager addicted to drugs hears the voice of truth and chooses not to take anymore.
These people often suffer alone. Yet radio can meet them, inspire them, and transform them when they need it most. A few simple words of hope can cut through their pain and cause their spirits to soar! Imagine a guy with no arms or legs being able to “walk” into people’s hearts and lives around the world with the message of truth and life! Through radio, it can become a reality!
