Inmates at Oregon Prison Loved Nick’s Story

Each Thursday night a group of us Prison Fellowship volunteers enter the State of Oregon Women’s Prison. We hold services on both sides of the facility to approximately 140 women. Last Thursday night one of our volunteers had to cancel coming; so I prayed, “Lord, give me something that will impact these special ones for You.” I looked through my materials in my den and wasn’t really finding what I sensed God wanted me to use. Then, low an behold, I came upon a DVD titled, “Portland Good Friday Breakfast, Friday, April 2, 2010, Oregon Convention Center – Event Message – Nick Vujicic”. I had forgotten that I had ordered this DVD after attending a phenomenal breakfast meeting where Nick spoke to over 1000 of us. I put the DVD in my computer and started watching it…. I can’t tell you how wonderful it was to hear God speak, “Use this…I’ll do the rest!”

The Thursday evening came. We opened the evening with a short study of Psalm 139:13-18 “…we are wonderfully and fearfully made….” After singing some glorious choruses, I told the ladies that we had a special guest speaker. We started the video and Nick took it from there….(really the Holy Spirit did the work). By the time Nick was inviting the 1000 of us to pray “the sinner’s prayer” – our ladies audibly prayed along with Nick. There were 58 ladies present in the Chapel. Nick said to the 1000 in our audience, “…if you prayed this prayer with me from your heart and accepted Jesus Christ , I challenge you to stand.” We volunteers were thrilled that 22 lady inmates stood to declare that they had either received Christ for the first time or were rededicating their lives to Jesus.”

Needless to say, the inmates and us volunteers were truly moved by the power of Nick’s testimony and the anointing of the Holy Spirit. One of our ladies said, “I’ve seen a lot of videos, but I’ve never sensed so much faith from an individual as I did tonight when hearing and watching Nick speak.”

Thank you Nick for being so transparent, candid and real. What you shared to the group of us at the Convention Center in 2010 lives on and still carries the message today. May God continue to bless you using your testimony and understanding of the Word of God.

Tell us how these encouraging words have given you hope and inspiration!
